The Okinawa Prefecture (沖縄県) in Japan is made up of more than 150 islands collectively known as the Ryukyu Islands. Located in the East China Sea, these islands form three distinct groups: the Okinawa Islands, which encompass the main island of Okinawa where the capital city, Naha, is situated; the Miyako Islands; and the Yaeyama Islands. As the southernmost prefecture in Japan, Okinawa lies between Taiwan to the south and the Japanese mainland to the north. With its subtropical climate and beautiful sandy beaches, it is a premier travel destination. The waters surrounding these islands are teeming with marine biodiversity and boast breathtaking coral reefs, making scuba diving and snorkeling popular activities in the area. Visitors can also explore a variety of attractions, including stunning natural parks, ancient shrines, and Gyoku Sendo, a mesmerizing underground cave located in Nanjo, which features over a million stalactites and stalagmites spanning more than five kilometers.
