This live webcam stream features the Alma Mater statue at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, situated within the twin cities of Champaign and Urbana in Illinois, USA, as indicated on the accompanying map below. The bronze statue depicts a woman in academic attire, positioned before a klismos chair, with her arms outstretched in a welcoming gesture. Flanking her are two additional figures symbolizing "Labor" and "Learning." Created by the American sculptor Lorado Zadok Taft, the Alma Mater takes its name from the university's motto, "Learning and Labor." The granite pedestal includes three inscriptions, one of which states, "Alma Mater/To thy happy children/of the future/those of the past/send greetings." The left side notes, "Given to the University/by the sculptor/the alumni fund/and the senior classes of/1923, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927, 1928, 1929," while the right side reads, "her children arise and call her blessed." Established in 1867, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a prestigious public institution.
