Weather and time
Live broadcast from a badger burrow situated in the wilds of Estonia. Badgers belong to the Mustelidae family, a group of mammals characterized by their burrowing behavior. While primarily nocturnal, these creatures can also be spotted during the day, particularly in the mornings and late afternoons until around 8 PM, especially about 5 to 6 hours after dusk. Badgers are predominantly found in taiga and mixed forests, and less frequently in mountainous regions; in southern areas, they inhabit steppes and semi-arid landscapes. They prefer dry, well-drained environments but typically reside within 1 kilometer of bodies of water or marshlands, which provide a more abundant food source. They create extensive burrows by excavating sandy soil on hillside slopes, forest gullies, and ravines. Badgers from the same generation often remain loyal to familiar locations. Research through geochronological methods indicates that some badger territories may have been occupied for several thousand years.
