This site is the original sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Aparecida, located in Aparecida, a city in São Paulo State, Brazil. Officially opened in 1888, it was recognized by the Vatican as Brazil’s first basilica in 1919. Until 1982, the sacred statue of Our Lady of Aparecida, who is regarded as Brazil's patroness, was kept here. The baroque-style basilica, situated at Praça Nossa Sra.
