Experience a live stream from the nest of a kestrel falcon residing in Brest, perched atop a 12-story building in the Vostok microdistrict. This webcam operates 24/7, offering real-time visuals accompanied by sound. Kestrel falcons, which traditionally inhabit areas on the outskirts of forests adjacent to expansive fields, have increasingly begun to settle in urban environments. This shift is likely a consequence of agricultural practices that use chemicals harmful to these birds, driving them away from rural areas to city life. It’s worth noting that these small raptors, which thrive in densely populated groups, pose no threat to humans, making them entirely harmless. Their colonies are found in major cities like London, Warsaw, and Paris. According to ornithologists, the urban area of Brest is home to around forty kestrel families, making it the most populous region for these birds in the whole country.
