Known by various names such as fish eagle, sea hawk, river hawk, and fish hawk, the osprey is a diurnal bird of prey that primarily feeds on fish. This species is adaptable to numerous habitats, commonly nesting in areas close to water sources where food is plentiful. Ospreys are present across every continent except Antarctica; however, in South America, they are observed solely as non-breeding migrants.
