A live webcam is positioned on the island of Saint Barthelemy, specifically in the city of Gustavia, located in the French West Indies. This webcam provides a real-time feed of the Gustaf III airport airstrip and the Saint-Jean plains. Situated in the Caribbean, Saint Barthelemy offers breathtaking panoramic views through its webcam, showcasing Gustavia, the island itself, the bay, the ocean, and nearby islets. The camera's scope also includes Saint Jean Beach and a soccer field. Saint Barthelemy lies within a region that frequently experiences hurricanes and tropical storms. The live camera enables viewers to observe current weather conditions and witness events occurring in Gustavia. In September 2017, Hurricane Irma wreaked havoc on the island, leading to significant destruction of homes and a complete power outage, as all webcams on the island were either damaged or became inoperable. The hurricane's winds exceeded 72 m/s, with gusts up to 105 m/s, and the island experienced three months' worth of rainfall during this event. The economic impact of the storm was estimated at around half a billion euros. The operation of the live camera was restored on September 21, allowing it to resume its real-time broadcasts from that date.
