Located along the Chenggong coast in Taitung County, Sanxiantai features a picturesque beach area that spans ten kilometers and consists of multiple islands. This location is particularly famed for its iconic, dragon-shaped footbridge that links the mainland to the largest of the islands, visible on the webcam broadcast. The term "Sanxiantai" translates to "platform of three immortals," alluding to an island characterized by three prominent standing rocks. Sanxiantai is a geological formation that evolved into a cape due to gradual erosion, which ultimately led to the disintegration of the causeway that once connected it to the mainland. As a result, these rocks transformed into coastal islands that could only be accessed by visitors during low tide. In 1987, government initiatives completed an eight-arch bridge across the water, designed to resemble a wave reminiscent of a sea dragon, creating a connection between Sanxiantai and Taiwan itself. This bridge has become a well-known landmark along the East Coast of Taiwan. Covering approximately 22 hectares, Sanxiantai's highest elevation reaches 77 meters above sea level.
