The Spider Crab live stream offers a remarkable close-up perspective of the Japanese giant spider crabs featured in the exhibition "Into the Deep: Exploring Our Undiscovered Ocean" at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California, USA. Recognized as the largest crabs globally, these creatures possess ten legs that can extend up to 3.8 meters (12 feet) from claw to claw. Their carapace measures approximately 40 centimeters (16 inches), and their entire body can reach a weight of up to 19 kilograms (42 pounds). The webcam also captures a model of a sperm whale carcass resting on the ocean floor, known as a whalefall. When a whale passes away, its body descends to the seabed, where the nutrient-packed remains draw in deep-sea species, including the spider crab, while supporting the broader marine ecosystem.
