Live footage of Vasilyevsky Island (Васи́льевский о́стров) is being broadcast from the Peter and Paul Fortress in Saint Petersburg, Russia. This island, bordered by the Gulf of Finland on the west and the Malaya Neva and Bolshaya Neva Rivers to the northeast and south, is a significant part of St. Petersburg's historic core. Shown on the right side of the footage is Birzhevoy Bridge, commonly referred to as Exchange Bridge, named after the Old Saint Petersburg Stock Exchange located to the left, nestled between the two Rostral Columns. Constructed between 1957 and 1960, this bridge serves as a connection between Vasilyevsky and Petrogradsky islands. In addition, two other notable bridges, Blagoveshchensky Bridge and Palace Bridge (Dvortsoviy Most), link the southern area of the island to the mainland.
