Bald Eagles Nest, Pittsburgh Live Cam

A live PTZ webcam offers a real-time glimpse into the nest of bald eagles located in Pittsburgh. This pair of eagles has selected a nesting site just a short distance—approximately 5 miles—from downtown Pittsburgh, along the Monongahela River. The webcam provides a unique opportunity for viewers to monitor the birds remotely. The video feed is transmitted via a cellular network, and due to the camera's remote location, it operates on battery power supplemented by solar panels. Equipped with Pan-Tilt-Zoom capabilities and integrated infrared illuminators, the camera facilitates nighttime viewing. It is positioned in a tree approximately 9 meters above the nest, allowing for a direct view into it. The operator has the ability to remotely adjust the camera angle and zoom in (with up to 36x optical zoom) to keep track of the eagles. Daytime broadcasts are presented in color, while nighttime footage is shown in black and white.
