Little Bella, the hummingbird, has made her home in the branches of a ficus tree in La Verne, California, since at least 2005. She tirelessly nurtures up to four to five broods each year in a nest roughly the size of half a golf ball. Each delicate egg measures slightly larger than a Tic Tac. After approximately two and a half weeks, the eggs hatch, and the tiny chicks begin their journey into the world. Bella lovingly guards her young and nourishes them with a mix of insects and nectar. The chicks leave the nest 21 to 25 days after hatching, eager to explore the freedom of flight. Join our dedicated community of viewers as we follow this devoted mother throughout her breeding season.
