A live webcam broadcasts a swimming pool filled with seals at the Seal Rehabilitation and Research Centre located in Pieterburen, Netherlands. Founded in 1971 by Lenie ‘t Hart, the centre, known as "Zeehondencrche Pieterburen," has transformed from a straightforward "day care" for young seals into a scientifically-driven seal hospital featuring facilities such as quarantine areas, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and advanced research capabilities. Each year, hundreds of seals receive care at the centre, which rescues animals injured by boats or fishing gear, as well as those affected by pollution-related illnesses. Additionally, the centre provides shelter for orphaned seal pups. After undergoing rehabilitation, which can last anywhere from a few weeks to a maximum of six months, all seals are released back into their natural habitats – no animals remain in captivity, and breeding does not occur. The centre is also proactive in collecting discarded fishing nets that pose a threat to marine life. It welcomes visitors every day.
